Debonair's Lunch
15th November 2016
What a wonderful way to celebrate the November Debonairs, on board the RhythmBoat cruising the beautiful Sydney Harbour and being entertained by such wonderful people like, Ted Hamilton, Johnny Nicole, John Campbell. Our chief Debonair the ever hard working Glenn Ware did his usual brilliant job as our master of ceremonies though he almost lost it when discussing the illness of one of our larger that life members Maria Vanuti who is still in need of our prayers in Royal North Shore hospital.
If at any time you become ill then be assured it will be to your benefit to have Glenn Ware in your corner it is unbelievable what he does behind the scenes for our sick members, particularly those close to him.
Glenn also advised us of the 3 Members who would appreciate our combined prayers, I'll add these words from Glenn's email;

Maria Venuti AM is still in Royal North Shore Hospital after suffering a stroke....
Some News Services reported Maria had died, but the truth is she is now breathing unassisted, but she has not regained consciousness yet...
Maria remains under sedation with the best care being given to her....
We Still ask for your prayers at this time....

Actress Judy McBurney has been suffering from cancer for the past year... It has been devastating to her!
To save her life Judy has undergo another tremendous facial operation on Monday 14th to take out a lot more cancer....
This will change her life dramatically, and so....
We Still ask for your prayers at this time....

Frankie Davidson OAM underwent an operation Tuesday 8th November, to surgically insert a medical 'balloon' to ease congestion in his valves at Royal North Shore Hospital.
The operation was a success and Frankie was released on November 11th. He is fine but still does not feel very well.
In 4-6 weeks he has to return to RNS have tavi implantation. For now Frankie is resting....
Again we ask for your prayers for Frankie

Glenn discusses Maria with neighbour Leslie Matthews.

Debonair's Lunch
22nd september 2016
Another very enjoyable afternoon at the Debonairs Luncheon at the Georges River Sailing Club, Sanoni Ave, Sandringham
A big gathering of people from the entertainment world were on for a very heart warming avent where we all stood as one to welcome Graham Wilson to his first Debonairs Lunch sine his illness some two years ago. It was just great to see and hear him talk to the gathering about his time in hospital and the operation performed by Dr Charlie Teo. Dr Teo is about the only doctor in Australia to perform this delicate brain procedure.
It was fantastic for the crown do be able to one again say "welcome to Debonairs Graham".

Debonair's Lunch
23rd AUGUST 2016
WOW!!!! What an afternoon/evening we had an board the Rhythm Boat cruising the beautiful Sydney Harbour even though it was an overcast cruise however where Dave Lazarus and Elsa together with their onboard crew really treated us to fisrt class service along with lashings of food so much so we couldn't devour it all, we could've fed an army.
Our usual Host, Glenn Ware again treated us to the magic he performs, no not illusions though some might be fooled into thinking he does just that with the array of entertainment he seems to be able to pull together at our Debonairs luncheons, and this was no exception.

Frank Ifield performs his great hit "I remember you" from his brand new CD "Encore" you can get it now from www.frankifield.com

Debonair's Lunch
19th APRIL 2016
I can tell you, what, tell you? for goodness sake you were there you know how good it was. But, for those who wern't there I'll give you a bit of a run down from what I can remember. As previously stated I have an age problem, I forget things. so here we go......
Glenn opened proceedings with the customary SssssssssHHHHHHHHhhhhhh hell how do you explain shoosh. Anyway I hope you get the picture. I don't know how he finds the time to do all he does, the video clips from Bandstand days and other places he so obviousley chases to get these clips.
Yesterday we were treated to a clip, I think it was from about 1967 of Sylvia Raye singing "The Wayward Wind" on Bandstand and heard from Sylvia about the making of the clip and the large industrial fans used to make the wind that she envisaged being blown off the set by the sheer force of it. Sylvia's main worry though was losing here eye lashes.
We also heard a wonderful poem relating to being on the phone on hold or being told to press the various numbers for the different sections on the particular, shall we say, hospital, bloody political correctness, I cannot tell you where it was from or about however, ever the comedianne was Carol Heuchan told ir as it was. Funny, Funny, Funny.
We heard songs from Wayne Rogers, Irene St John, Larry (Sinatra) Stellar, Johnny Nicole, wow, what an entertainer her is and makes it all look so easy. But how about the great Frank Ifield it was just fantastic to see Frank doing his great hit "I remember you" OK at least he did everything right and it was a spectacular performance.
A celebration to honour two greats from radio & Television, Donnie Sutherland and Graham Webb who celebrate birthdays Donnie at 70 and Graham 80 both very much young at heart.

Debonair's Lunch
16th February 2016
My first luncheon for 2016 as I missed out in January.
I have to say even with the lesser numbers it was a very good, friendly (as it is every month) but it seemed a little warmer, I'm not talking about the weather, it was a very happy place to be.
We were entertained by several members plus a guest who was very young, very attractive and was a great little entertainer with her two songs that pleased everyone, I'm sure we'll hear a lot more about her in the years to come. Her Name is Chelsea Routley
We heard a beautiful song from Helen a song penned by her husband for their daugher's wedding and I guess you could have heard a pin drop as it was being performed, Helen received a standing ovation. A beautiful song, beautifully performed by a beautiful lady.
Our old mate Larry entertained in his usual easy style of Sanatra particularly when he sang "My Way" Larry too received a standing ovation.
Col Joy & Mary Schneider, well what can I say about these two pros, they were fantastic but then you wouldn't expect anything less than fantastic from them. Col has so much fun when performing and he has no problem showing it, Mary sings with the greatest of ease, she makes harmonising look & sound so easy she really is the QUEEN of yodelling she couldn't help slipping in some yodelling during their song.
I don't take notes on the day as I want to enjoy myself so entrust everything to memory and these days my memory ain't what it used to be, so if I've missed anyone please forgive my, just put down to an age thing.
Obviously the man we all owe a great deal of thanks to is the one and only Glenn Ware so to you Glenn on behalf of every Debonaire we say a collective THANK YOU for your many hours of work you put in so we can enjoy the fruits of that work and we should also include Di who on the Debonairs Tuesday does a heap of work and is Glenn's left arm. so we also say "Thanks You" Di!!!

Debonair's Lunch
15th December 2015
A wonderful day was had by all in attendance we even had Santa arrive to help Glenn with the raffle, I think Glenn's membership of the Echidnas had pushed him off on the wrong the rafflke has become a rort like the Echidnas rort, I cannot come within a bulls roar of winning.>br> What a great day of entertainment, we had a visit from Frank Sinatra in Larry Stellar what a voice this man has. Also heard from the wonderful silky voice of Jimmy Parkinson, the fantastic Wayne Horsborogh we had a brilliant guitar solo from Chris Bond, Also Bobby Thomas from the 60s band the Beaumen. We also heard from Graeme Goldberg who has returned back to Sydney after a stint in the Philippines where he was responsible for the running of a chain of 5 hotels. Graeme made it very clear that we take what we have here in Australia way too much for granted. Go live over seas in another country thats when you understand the beauty we have here, we must look after it.

Debonair's Lunch

PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY THIS WAS AN

HARBOUR CRUISE SHOW
We had a real change for today's Debonairs Luncheon. We spent the on the beautiful Sydney Harbour on board Dave Lazurus's Rhythmboat for several hours again with good food etc. We had some very good entertainment with the best band ever, the Royal Australian Navy Band with Echidna Simon Bartlett up front.

Always a wonderful day!!!

Debonair's Lunch
19th May 2015
What a wonderful day!!!
Congratulations must go to a very energetic Glenn Ware for the work he put in prior to members arriving. As this was my first time I was absolutely amazed by the items on display such as the Album covers all the way around the room, the number of DVD as well as the books I feel sure he must have hired a truck to get everything to the venue. Plus all the sound equipment, setting up four mikes, television and to top that off the clips he played of Jimmy Parkinson as the lovely Nina Raye from around 1959-60.
We were entertained by Dave Bourke who enlightened us on being brought up as a very yound lad also about being married with no experience as he couldn't get advise about the birds & the bees.
Jimmy Parkinson after catching up with his younger self from 1959 sang us a song to prove he still had the golden voice we heard on the clip, and he really does still have it.
There was a very emotional return to the Debonairs by the Primisteress Judy McBurney after her bout with Jack Dancer, she, outwardly showed great spirit and God bless her.
Another returning from his bout with the same unwelcome problem was Donny Sutherland who actually spoke to those gathered even though with a special gravel toned voice it was great to see him so up-beat.
We also heard from a Tom Jones tribute artist who was also along on the dya for his first visit.
Mr Smooth Larry Stellar I find it difficult to find where Larry finisher and Frank Sinatra commences I doubt there is anyone that can top Larry in that area.
Morgan Kent didn't know who he was after being announced as Rod Steward belted out a number from the Bee Gees, mind you he did a great job of it.
The former half of Thomas & Moore Brett Thomas amazed me and I feel sure everyone else in the room with his song, what a voice. This is what he has now for his solo career and he sure sounds good.

I believe today was the 9th birthday of the Debonairs, what happened Glenn no cake.... A great idea started by Brian Cadd & Glenn however after Brian departed Glenn has kept it going, he tells me it's only kept going by the members who continually support the day by their attendance he just has a great passion for what it stands for and the enjoyment he sees from those in attendance gives him great delight and the drive to continue.
